Real Estate CEO and His Daughter Are Shot in Violent Home Invasion at Toronto Mansion

by Andrea Cavallier

A Canadian real estate CEO and his daughter are fighting for their lives after three armed suspects forced their way into the family’s Toronto home in a violent early-morning invasion.

The Mac Group CEO David Morton, his wife, Doriana Zohil-Morton, and their adult daughters, Cristina and Maggie, were injured as they tried to fight off the masked intruders who were armed with guns and a hammer, Toronto Police Service Inspector Kristy Smith said during a press conference, according to CP24.

Morton and one of his daughters suffered gunshot wounds and are in life-threatening condition, while the mother and their other daughter sustained injuries that are not considered life-threatening, the National Post reported.

Police responded to the attack at the home in the city’s affluent Bridle Path neighborhood around 3:44 a.m. local time on Thursday.

“There was a violent interaction,” Smith said, according to the Toronto Sun. “There was a demand made for valuables from within the home–whether or not they escaped with anything is uncertain.”

The three suspects fled the scene in an SUV, police said. The home is located on Hyde Park Circle, near Bayview and Lawrence avenues. Authorities have not released descriptions of the suspects.

“This is a very active and ongoing investigation,” Smith said during the press conference. “While we don’t have any detailed suspect information at this time, I can assure you that we are doing our best to provide information to you with regard to the potential three suspects that we are aware of at this time.”

Police have not determined whether the family was targeted, according to the National Post.

Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow condemned the attack, saying she was “deeply troubled” by the violence.

“My thoughts are with the family and their loved ones, who are going through something no family should ever have to face,” Chow wrote in a post on X. “I am praying for their full recovery.”

Developing story, more to follow.
