Controversial mixed-use project with private school in Coral Gables heads to final vote 

A controversial mixed-use project with a private school proposed on a site that formerly housed a church is up for a final city commission hearing in Coral Gables.  At the center of opposition to the project is the property’s historic religious garden.  Chicago-based Fifield Companies plans to build Crystal Residences, a nine-story building at 110 Phoenetia Avenue, that would include 184 residential units, 16 ground-floor live-work units and nonprofit school Crystal Academy that supports children with autism, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and more.
