Trumbull, CT Homeowners Can Expect a Cool and Dry Fall, Says The Old Farmer’s Almanac
This fall in Trumbull, CT, homeowners can expect a cooler and drier season than usual.
The Old Farmer’s Almanac has released its Fall 2025 Weather Predictions, and Connecticut is forecasted for a brisk autumn.
This comes just as Trumbull has earned national recognition as the #7-ranked market on the Realtor.com 2025 Hottest ZIP Codes list, meaning perhaps there are more than a few new homeowners in the Connecticut suburb that will need to plan accordingly for the autumn weather.
A crisp forecast for Connecticut
The Almanac projects that the Appalachians region, which includes western Connecticut, will be cooler and drier than normal this fall. September will average 65°F with about three inches of rain, two inches below normal in the northern part of the region. October will cool to an average of 53°F with 2.5 inches of rain, about one inch below average.
Connecticut as a whole is forecasted to be cool and dry, which means residents can expect traditional fall weather—sunny, crisp days and colorful foliage.
Nationally, most of the western half of the U.S. will also be warmer than average, while areas like the Upper Midwest and Appalachians will trend cooler. Rainfall is projected to be below average across much of the country, from California to Florida, with the exception of the Pacific Northwest and High Plains.
Trumbull ranks as the nation’s #7 hottest ZIP code
The Realtor.com Hottest ZIP Codes 2025 report named Trumbull’s 06611 the 7th hottest ZIP code in the country. Homes here attracted 5.1× more views than the U.S. average and sold in just 25 days.
In June 2025, Trumbull’s median listing price was $666,000, well above the national median of $441,000 but still 26% below the Bridgeport-Stamford-Danbury metro median of $893,000. That price gap reflects Trumbull’s role as a suburban value play in an otherwise expensive housing market.
Other New England ZIPs joining the list include Beverly, MA (01915) at #1, Leominster, MA (01453) at #3, and Cumberland, RI (02864) at #8. Together, they highlight the Northeast’s ongoing dominance in housing demand.
September home maintenance priorities for Trumbull
With cool and dry weather ahead, September offers the perfect opportunity to prepare for winter:
- Check walkways for cracks: “Fix walkway and entryway areas before slippery weather can cause a tripping or falling accident,” advises Ryan Williams, general manager of 128 Plumbing, Heating, Cooling & Electric.
- Clean siding: After summer humidity, Chris Granger of Sears Home Services notes that siding can show mildew or dirt. A good pressure wash can refresh curb appeal and uncover hidden issues.
- Sweep the chimney: Even if warmer days linger, cooler nights will arrive. “Built-up soot in your chimney can increase your risk of a chimney fire,” warns Lindsey Pasieka of ConsumerSafety.org.
- Change HVAC filters: Dirty filters reduce efficiency and can damage systems over time. Granger recommends replacing them monthly to keep bills in check.
