Realtors Relief Foundation sends $500K to Texas flood victims
The nonprofit Realtors Relief Foundation (RRF) has allocated $500,000 to assist residents in south central Texas following recent floods that took the lives of more than 130 people and displaced families across the region.
The funding — distributed through Texas Realtors and eight local associations — will be used to help affected residents cover housing payments as recovery and relief efforts continue.
“Following the tragic floods in Texas, we at the National Association of Realtors and the Realtors Relief Foundation are heartbroken at the lives lost and the communities devastated,” RRF President Greg Hrabcak said in a statement.
“We know that the recovery efforts will take time and commitment, and we are working closely with Texas Realtors and local Realtor associations to make sure that the $500,000 we are providing goes toward supporting communities in areas affected by the flooding.
“NAR and RRF stand with Texans today, tomorrow and in the months and years to come as we rebuild together.”
More than 160 people are still missing in the flood region, while early estimates of the damage from the disaster range from $18 billion to $22 billion.
NAR covers all administrative costs of the foundation and works to ensure that all funds raised are directed to natural disaster relief.
Across 20 years of existence, the foundation has distributed more than $40 million in aid to more than 20,000 families across the U.S. and its territories.
