Patrick and Brittany Mahomes Are Set for Kansas City Pay Day—as Their Home Town Soccer Team Earns $325 Million Valuation

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is already one of the area's wealthiest residents—thanks to his $450 million contract with the team. However, the NFL star and his wife, Brittany, are now set to get another very lucrative payday from a different local sports team: the Kansas City Current.

The women's soccer team, which Patrick and Brittany, 30, are both co-owners of, is now valued at a sky-high $325 million, according to Forbes. The Current has become the second most valuable team in the National Women's Soccer League, second only to Angel City FC, which is worth $340 million.

Forbes makes clear that this valuation doesn't represent the amount of money that the teams have in their coffers, but rather the investments being made in their futures—and their earning potential over the coming years.

However, for Patrick and Brittany, who have been based in the Kansas City, MO, area since 2017, when the quarterback was drafted by the Chiefs, it signifies an impressive return on the sizable investment they have made in the city's sports teams since moving there nine years ago.

Brittany is one of the founding co-owners of the Current, which she brought to Kansas City in 2020, alongside her fellow co-owners, Angie and Chris Long. Patrick then joined the ownership group in 2022.

"When Angie Long, Chris Long and Brittany Mahomes brought this NWSL franchise to Kansas City, they were clear in their commitment to do it right—for the players and for the city," the Current's website states.

That "ambition" to turn Kansas City into a thriving hub of sporting excellence has also spurred Patrick to join the ownership groups of other local sports teams: MLB's the Kansas City Royals and MLS squad Sporting Kansas City.

With an estimated net worth of $160 million—largely due to the $450 million 10-year contract extension he signed in 2020—Patrick seems dedicated to reinvesting a portion of that wealth into furthering Kansas City's sports teams.

"In 2022, Patrick joined his wife, Brittany, in the ownership group of the Current, and became the first active NFL player to have equity in an NWSL team," the Current website continues.

"Patrick shares the same vision as co-owners Chris, Angie, and Brittany of establishing the best women’s soccer club in the world and having the Kansas City Current serve as a model for all of women’s sports."

The couple's investment in the local area also signals Patrick's ongoing commitment to the Chiefs—with whom he is meant to remain until at least 2030, although he is in the process of recovering from an ACL tear that ended his 2025 season and could well see him benched for the earliest games of the 2026 season.

In December, Patrick returned to his home state of Texas to undergo surgery for the injury, which ESPN reported at the time was incredibly successful. The quarterback later voiced his determination to get back to full health in time for the start of the upcoming season.

"The doctor kind of gives you goals to get to," the NFL star explained in a video shared to the Chiefs' Instagram account in January. "I just try to maximize those—they hold me back, because I always want to go a little bit further.

"I want to be ready for Week 1. The doctors said I could be, but I can’t predict what happens throughout the process. That's my goal ... to play Week 1 and have no restrictions.

"You want to be out there healthy and give us the best chance to win. I hope to do some things in [organized team activities] and training camp, and be able to do a lot there."

Although Patrick and Brittany have long called Missouri home—building a stunning custom mansion in Belton in 2020—they still maintain a dwelling in Texas, a sprawling vacation property in Westlake, which they bought that same year.

The four-bedroom, 7,800-square-foot estate on a half-acre lot comes with lots of baller perks: a wine room, family room with a gas fireplace, and outdoor space with a gas fireplace, grill grotto, fire pit lounge area, large pool, tan deck, and spa.

However, that abode is dwarfed by the couple's primary residence, which sits on a huge 8-acre parcel of land they snapped up for just $400,000. The dwelling that now occupies it is understood to be worth millions more.

Images have revealed that the dwelling features a stunning swimming pool, complete with its own water slide, as well as a large sports field that has "Mahomes" written across one end.

And Patrick isn't restricting himself to just football as far as his at-home sporting amenities go. In addition to the field, he and Brittany added a putting green and a private pond.

In October 2024, the home was the site of a burglary, an incident that he later described as "frustrating" and "disappointing."

"Obviously something that you don't want to have happen to really anybody, but obviously yourself," he said at the time.

Patrick and his wife are believed to have moved into their home in 2023, having spent close to three years completing their dream abode. At around the same time, they also listed their former Kansas City dwelling—a much more modest abode that they purchased in 2019.

According to local regulations, home sale prices do not have to be disclosed, meaning that the final sale price is not known. However, they put the abode on the market for $2.9 million. Before the couple purchased the property, it was last listed for $1.99 million.
