NWMLS launches voice-activated home search tool

The Northwest Multiple Listing Service (NWMLS) has launched a new bilingual, voice-activated home search tool designed to make real estate listings more accessible to a wider range of users, including people with disabilities.

The platform — called Finding Homes — allows users to search listings using natural speech through Alexa-enabled devices or apps. It’s available in both English and Spanish and was developed by Lundy Inc.

“The introduction of Finding Homes is about meeting buyers and sellers where they are — whether they’re visually impaired, have accessibility needs, or simply prefer voice interaction,” said Justin Haag, president and CEO of NWMLS. “This partnership reflects our ongoing commitment to inclusivity, accessibility, and innovation in real estate.”

Example voice queries include requests for residential properties with specific features or in certain neighborhoods, such as, “I want a house with a big yard and a quiet office,” or “Find houses with two bedrooms that are eligible for the Down Payment Resources program.”

“Finding Homes turns the home search into a natural, conversational experience. You ask, it listens — and returns homes that match your life, not just your filters,” said Justin Lundy, CEO of Lundy Inc.

The service is part of a broader push by NWMLS to improve accessibility in real estate.

The organization was recognized in 2018 by Northwest Access Fund for its listing system — which includes more than 100 features such as accessible entrances, wide doorways and smart-home technology.

Platform features were developed in partnership with Able Environments, which also created the Accessibility Real Estate Specialist training program.

Users can access the Finding Homes tool by saying, “Alexa, start Finding Homes,” on any compatible device.
