Kevin Spacey Reveals He Is Homeless After Losing $5.6 Million Baltimore Home to Foreclosure Amid Costly Legal Battles
Hollywood legend Kevin Spacey has revealed that he is homeless, having lost his lavish Baltimore property to foreclosure while dealing with the soaring cost of the legal fees involved in defending himself against a spate of sexual assault allegations.
Spacey, 66, was once one of the most sought-after actors in the industry, enjoying a series of major blockbuster roles, including appearances in "Se7en" alongside Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman, and the sensationally popular political series "House of Cards."
But after several claims of sexual assault and misconduct began being levied against him in 2017, the actor became a persona non grata in Hollywood—a stigma that has remained even after he was acquitted of all charges of sexual assault by a London court in 2023.
Hollywood's refusal to work with him during his six-year legal battle to clear his name coupled with the extraordinary cost of lawyers' fees left Spacey in dire financial straits and in July 2024, he lost his palatial Baltimore mansion to foreclosure, having defaulted on his $20,000-a-month mortgage payments.
While Spacey initially fought back against the foreclosure auction of his property, which was purchased by real estate mogul Sam Asgari for $3.2 million, he was ultimately forced from the home—and has since struggled to secure another full-time residence.
Instead, Spacey admitted to The Telegraph, he has been living between Airbnb rentals and hotels, traveling to anywhere he is able to secure work, including a Cyprus nightclub, where he recently staged a musical performance for which spectators were charged up to $1,400 for a ticket.
Speaking to the outlet about his money struggles, the actor explained that he lost his home for one very simple reason: "Because the costs over these last seven years have been astronomical. I’ve had very little coming in and everything going out."

He added: "I’m living in hotels, I’m living in Airbnbs, I’m going where the work is. I literally have no home, that’s what I’m attempting to explain."
Describing his current financial situation as "not great," Spacey said that he did manage to avoid filing for bankruptcy, although he conceded that it had been "discussed" as an option.
The majority of his worldly possessions are currently in storage while he continues to travel for any and every paying work opportunity, although he said he does hope at some point to earn enough money to settle down in a real home once more.
"You get through it," he said. "In weird ways, I feel I’m back to where I first started, which is I just went where the work was. Everything is in storage, and I hope at some point, if things continue to improve, that I’ll be able to decide where I want to settle down again."
Spacey's admission about his money woes comes just over one year after he was forced to move out of the Baltimore property, which he purchased for $5.65 million in 2017, the same year he was first accused of sexual misconduct.
At the time, representatives for the actor strongly denied that he had bought the home, with his then-manager, Evan Lowenstein, claiming that the condo belonged to him and not his client.
However, when the property ended up on the auction block, Spacey’s identity as its true owner was confirmed.
Asgari and Spacey soon became embroiled in a bitter spat over the actor's apparent refusal to leave the property in the wake of the auction, during which Spacey accused the real estate mogul of "bullying" him.
Asgari initially came forward to accuse Spacey of refusing to vacate the property—only for the "House of Cards" actor to hit back with his own allegations that Asgari had failed to "comply with the rules applicable to purchasers following a foreclosure sale."
That quarrel seemingly came to an end in February of this year when the Baltimore property was listed for $5.99 million, suggesting that Spacey had vacated the dwelling, leaving it free to find a new owner.
Yet that process would not prove to be easy. After three months on the market, the price of the dwelling was slashed by $1 million—only to undergo an additional $500,000 price cut six weeks later.
Asgari eventually put the dwelling on the rental market with an asking price of $35,000 a month, before it was delisted altogether earlier this year.

The impressive five-story abode, which is in the exclusive Pier Homes at the Harborview community, sits at the end of a pier and provides stunning views across the harbor.
It is a combination of two townhouses and features six bedrooms, seven full bathrooms, and three half-baths.
Other amenities include a home theater, sauna, elevator, billiard room, and chef’s kitchen. Multiple decks, including a 76-foot roof deck with a spa, offer residents the chance to enjoy panoramic views of the area.
The home is also equipped with a four-car garage.
Spacey first revealed in June 2024 that he was being forced to sell off the 9,000-square-foot dwelling after he was left nearly penniless from the sky-high cost of his legal fees for his 2023 sexual assault trial.
He was cleared of all charges in the case, however, he later admitted during an interview with Piers Morgan in 2024 that he "still owed a lot of legal bills that he has been unable to pay."
"My house is being sold at auction. So I have to go back to Baltimore and put all my things in storage. ... I’m not quite sure where I’m going to live now," he said during an interview on "Piers Morgan Uncensored."
Spacey also admitted that he had come close to filing for bankruptcy on several occasions, but had "sort of managed to dodge it," telling Morgan that his plan was to simply "get back on the horse."
However, his fight to return to the Hollywood saddle has not been without its difficulties—and has seen the actor taking on a much more unique array of jobs, including his singing gig in Cyprus, billed as "Kevin Spacey: Songs & Stories," during which he performed a range of classic hits, including "That’s Life" and "Bridge Over Troubled Water."
It is a far cry from the elite status Spacey, who has won two Academy Awards, once enjoyed as one of Hollywood's most acclaimed talents.
Still, the actor said he is using this time as an opportunity to explore new career paths, including his passion for music, something he'd never before had the chance to really pursue.
"The idea of combining stories on some level, along with music, and in many cases music that I’ve never done before, songs I’ve never sung but I’ve wanted to—maybe in the shower, but never on a stage," he said. "So it just sort of happened when I wanted to see, can I get up and sing for my supper again?"
