John Mellencamp Says Daughter Teddi Is ‘Really Sick’ and ‘Suffering’—Amid ‘RHOBH’ Star’s Stage 4 Cancer Battle

Famed singer John Mellencamp has revealed that his daughter, "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star Teddi, is still "really sick" and "suffering right now" amid her stage 4 cancer battle—three months after she revealed that there were "no detectable signs" of the disease in her body.

The "Hurts So Good" hitmaker, 74, opened up about his daughter's devastating diagnosis while appearing on the latest episode of Joe Rogan's hit podcast.

While Teddi, 44, shared a positive update with her fans and followers in October 2025—three years after she was diagnosed with cancer—Mellencamp said that his daughter's fight has not ceased, explaining that she is in the midst of a particularly rough patch in her ongoing treatment.

“It’s not f---ing fun. She’s got cancer in the brain, and she’s suffering right now," he told Rogan on the show.

In October, Teddi surprised fans when she revealed that her cancer was "gone" during her own podcast, "Two T’s in a Pod," revealing that her latest scans had shown very encouraging results.

“Just to give a little life update to you guys, I had my immunotherapy yesterday and I did my scans and at this point there is no detectable cancer. When they told me, I was in such shock. I was like, numb,” she said at the time.

"The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star noted that the results did not hail the end of her battle, however, adding: “I'm still going to be having days when I'm feeling sick and stuff because I still am in immunotherapy, so I'm still fighting because you have to be.

“I’m not considered in remission or anything like that. The way the [doctors] said it works, it's like one year, then two years, then at three years you're allowed to be considered … in remission. So, but that was huge news yesterday.”

The Bravo star initially revealed that she had been diagnosed with stage 2 melanoma in 2022—however, in February 2025, she shared that the melanoma had metastasized and that doctors had found several tumors in her brain.

Mellencamp's shocking health revelation came just over a year after she underwent surgery to treat her stage 2 melanoma.

In December 2023, Mellencamp revealed she was recovering from a "wide excision melanoma" and "soft tissue defect reconstruction," which is a procedure that removed the affected skin from her shoulder and "replaced it with a flap of skin from below on my back."

She explained that she received the diagnosis after going to the hospital to get treatment for "severe and debilitating headaches" that had been plaguing her for "several weeks."

"After a CT scan and MRI, doctors found multiple tumors on my brain, which they believe have been growing for at least six months," she wrote, adding that doctors would attempt to remove the two biggest tumors in an initial procedure, before tackling the rest "via radiation at a later date.

The diagnosis marked the latest bump in what has been a rough road for Mellencamp of late, as it came just three months after she announced she was divorcing her husband of 13 years, Edwin Arroyave, and would be temporarily moving into her close friend Kyle Richards' home for a few nights a week while she and her spouse iron out their split. "I am blessed to be surrounded by my children, family, friends, doctors, nurses and surgeons who are doing everything possible to get me back into better help," she added.

The diagnosis marked the latest bump in what had been a rough few years for Mellencamp; she shared the stage 4 cancer update just three months after she announced that she was divorcing Edwin Arroyave, her husband of 13 years, revealing at the time that she was temporarily moving into her close friend Kyle Richards' home for a few nights a week.

She explained that she would be living with Kyle on and off so that her children could continue living in their family home while she and Arroyave worked out their co-parenting arrangement. On the nights when she was caring for the kids, she would reside at home, but when her former spouse was parenting, he would be there.

Still, the separation did not stop Arroyave, 47, from rushing to his estranged wife's bedside, posting an image of himself posing with Teddi and sharing prayers for a swift recovery.

Teddi, who shares three children with Arroyave—Slate, 12, Cruz, 10, and Dove, 4—was also joined in hospital by Kyle, 56.

The reality star first revealed that she was "living at Kyle's" in a Dec. 5 episode of her "Diamonds in the Rough" podcast with fellow Bravo star Erika Jayne, saying at the time: "Thankfully, Kyle has let me do that."

She added that, because her and Arroyave's marital home—which they purchased in 2020 for $6.5 million—is so close to Kyle's own Encino property, she can "just zip on over" whenever she needs to, noting that the living arrangement "works out really well for the kids."
