Jennifer Lawrence Opens Up About Life as a ‘Stay-at-Home Mom’—and How She and Cooke Maroney Keep Their Marriage Alive
Jennifer Lawrence has lifted the lid on marriage with husband Cooke Maroney in a rare interview, admitting that she views herself more as a stay-at-home mother than she does as an actress.
The "No Hard Feelings" star, 35, got candid about her relationship with New York native Maroney, 41, whom she described as her "opposite," while appearing on the "SmartLess" podcast hosted by Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes, and Will Arnett.
She gushed about her spouse, with whom she tied the knot in 2019, confessing that he is the "anchor" of their home, helping to keep them "organized," something she noted she is in desperate need of as someone who struggles to stick to a schedule.
"I married somebody who is the opposite of me. Yeah. He is so organized. Everything is ordered. Like, I have to keep the closet doors closed, and I have my little jobs that I work really hard to do," she explained.
Lawrence revealed that since becoming a mother to her son Cy, 3, and the couple's second child, whose name has not been revealed, she has realized the importance of a sticking to a routine.

“I get it now, I get it. [The kids are] on a very strict schedule. You know, it's like breakfast: 7:30," she said.
Lawrence noted that her husband is "good at keeping [the family] schedule," adding that they have implemented a rule in their household that helps to maintain a balance in their marriage.
"We've learned, to keep our marriage alive, I have a 15-minute wiggle room," the actress said.
While speaking about her children, the "The Hunger Games" star revealed that she is busier than ever now that she has become a mother—explaining that the constant responsibility is not something she is used to as someone whose working schedule usually involves busy periods, then ample down time.
"That's me. I identify as a stay-at-home mom, but I am obviously working," she admitted.
"I'm not used to being busy like this. I normally have a busy three months while I'm filming, but even in that sense, it's calm because there is nothing else to do. I just go to work, I do that, I come home, I sleep, and then I do it again. And then, like, two weeks while you promote. It is hectic."
Previously, the actress told The Hollywood Reporter that she was planning on keeping any information about her children private.
"I was surprised when I started doing this because I've always been really strict about, 'I don't want to talk about my kids,' but it's impossible not to, so I've landed on, 'I will talk about my experience as a mother.' But it did make me realize that it was not something I had considered," she said.
While speaking with W. Magazine, Lawrence revealed that she was pregnant while filming her new movie, "Die My Love," joking that it made for "real sexy family planning."
"I knew I was going to be doing the movie, and I also knew that I needed a second child before my other son got too old," she said.
The actress said that she was thankful filming came in her second trimester because "in the first trimester, you're very sick; and in the second trimester, you start to feel better."

She also said that it helped relate more to her character, noting that motherhood "takes any kind of veneer off, because now you're seeing the world through somebody else's eyes—somebody who's so much more important than you are."
Although Lawerence tends to keep her romance with Moroney private, she did speak publicly when they got engaged in 2019.
"Well, he's just the best person I've ever met in my whole life," she told "Entertainment Tonight" at the premiere of "X-Men: Dark Phoenix."
The actress said that it was "a very, very easy decision" to say "yes" when her now-spouse got down on one knee.
In a 2021 interview with Vanity Fair, Lawrence revealed that she loves sharing small and casual moments with her husband, like grocery shopping.
She said, "I really enjoy going to the grocery store with him. I don't know why, but it fills me with a lot of joy. I think maybe because it's almost a metaphor for marriage. 'OK, we've got this list. These are the things we need. Let's work together and get this done.'"
In September 2025, Lawrence quietly sold a Beverly Hills dwelling for $11 million in an off-market deal, according to property records, 11 years after purchasing the property for $8.2 million.
Lawrence appears to have bought the five-bedroom, six-bathroom abode for her parents, Karen and Gary, with records indicating that the dwelling was registered to a trust in her father's name.

The actress, who resides primarily in New York, where her spouse was born and raised, snapped up the home in October 2014, according to records.
It appears the home had quite the allure—given that it sold for much more than its original asking price of $7.9 million.
At the time, the listing described the dwelling as a "gorgeous French style home done to the nines following a total designer remodel."
The description noted that the home features a "fabulous living room, dining room, and kitchen with brand new built-in appliances and sparkling white Carrera marble counters."
A "grand, winding staircase" leads up to the home's second story, which houses three bedrooms, including the "decadent" primary suite with its own sitting area, balcony, and walk-in closet as well as an opulent en suite bathroom.
While the home was advertised as a four-bedroom property, the listing revealed that two of the bedrooms had been previously converted, with one transformed into a "stylish dressing room with a salon vanity and en-suite bathroom," while the other had been turned into a sitting area.
The entirety of the home had been outfitted with very high-end finishes including "ornate light fixtures, high-end hardware, and brand-new marble and hardwood floors."

"Only the finest, most luxurious finishes complete this stunning and romantic estate," the description continued.
Outside, the property was described as offering "sophisticated charm" with immaculately landscaped gardens, a koi-filled lily pond, and an external dining area.
The decision to sell the home seemingly severs Lawrence's public ties with the West Coast; the Beverly Hills home was understood to be the last property that she owned in California.
Lawrence has largely based herself out of New York City for the last few years, having bought and sold multiple dwellings in Manhattan since she and Maroney tied the knot in 2019.
The happy couple tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in October 2019, with a source telling People magazine that the newlyweds partied until the early hours of the morning at the event—which was attended by a host of Hollywood A-listers, including Emma Stone, Amy Schumer, Adele, Kris Jenner, and Cameron Diaz.
"It was an all-night party. Jen and Cooke were the last people to leave at 5:30 a.m.," an insider claimed. "They waited until all the guests were gone so they could personally say goodbye. When they left, Jen looked happy, but also a bit tired. She also looked stunning in a jeweled dress."
