HGTV Star Christina Haack’s $12 Million California Home Is Toilet-Papered in Halloween Prank

by Kelsi Karruli

HGTV star Christina Haack has revealed a trickster pranked her by covering her California home in toilet paper.

The 42-year-old star of "The Flip Off" took to her Instagram Story to share the aftermath of trolls getting into the spooky spirit.

She shared that mystery pranksters had tossed toilet paper all over the facade of her Newport Beach dwelling, leaving behind a mess for her and her son Hudson, 6, whom she shares with her ex-husband Ant Anstead, to clean up.

She shared the aftermath of the prank on her social media, revealing strips of paper hanging from her trees and plants.

In the clip, Hudson could be seen helping his mom clean up the mess.

"You're the best helper," she said to her son, to which he replied, "I? Me and Taylor,” referring to his sister. The HGTV star also shares Taylor, 15, and Brayden, 10, with her first spouse, Tarek El Moussa.

Although her home looked to be toilet-papered, Haack revealed that it was actually paper towels.

"Who uses paper towels to toilet-paper [someone's house]?” Haack said.

Hudson responds, “Who uses soap? Mom! Soap.”

Haack then explains to her son that she believes the soap is “from the window cleaning.” However, Hudson adds, “But there’s no windows here."

In California, covering someone's house in toilet paper can be considered vandalism and may even lead to a vandalism misdemeanor or felony charge, if the damage is over $400, according to SCV Bail Bonds and Kann California Law Group.

Although it is a crime, toilet-papering someone's home is usually considered a harmless prank that often occurs around Halloween.

The news of her home being pranked comes just days after she shared some very pointed advice with her fans, urging them to "eliminate all toxic people" from their lives and "hire the best attorneys" after finalizing her divorce from Josh Hall.

The 42-year-old "Flip Off" star—who split from Hall, 44, in July 2024—reflected on the past year of her life in a scathing Instagram post, in which she revealed the 10 rules everyone should follow.

"What a difference a year makes. Never EVER give up. Right when you think you’ll never recover life can bless you and literally turn everything around," she captioned a photo that showed her cozying up to her boyfriend, Christopher Larocca.

Her first several rules were all about keeping negative energy—and people—out of your life, telling fans that they should "never betray your intuition," "never be scared to say no," and remember that "authenticity always prevails."

She added, "Eliminate ALL toxic people from your life. Parasites and vampires will destroy you slowly."

The home expert then advised her followers to spend their money—especially on lawyers.

"Spend the money to hire the best people. Especially attorneys. It will always pay off," she said.

Next, Haack said that everyone should "truly understand your finances" and surround themselves with "kind and caring people who truly want you to succeed in all ways."

She added, "Don’t be embarrassed of your past. We all f*** up. Hire a coach who will call you out on your shit. If you want to learn and grow and be better—hold yourself accountable."

Lastly, Haack advised, "Get dressed up, eat the fries, drink the champagne, put down the phone and laugh a lot—life is short. Enjoy the ride."

Her piercing suggestions came just days after she renewed her bitter public spat with Hall—after he took to Instagram to make a thinly veiled jab at her.

The post, which was shared to Hall's Instagram Story and has since expired, read, “Never argue with liars. You can’t win, because they believe their own lies,” according to Fox News.

Following his post, Haack made her feelings about her ex-spouse clear.

“I’m not a liar, and I don’t even think anyone can make that up," she told Fox News.

“That’s very odd. Honestly, I think his 15 minutes is almost up, so maybe time to stop posting strange quotes.”

She previously opened up about their divorce in a wide-ranging interview with People

Haack told the outlet that her relationship with Hall caused many issues in her life—and it all began with the first time he proposed to her at her former home in Dana Point, CA.

"The first time he proposed, I said no, and he threw the ring in the pool. That was probably red flag number one," she revealed. "I don't think anyone's ever heard that story before. Sorry. It's true."

Haack claimed that her ex had decorated her terrace before asking for her hand in marriage, but things went south when she rejected him.

"We weren't getting along super great even then, off and on. When things were good, they were good, but it just felt like I wasn't quite ready and so I just said, 'This is not the right time.'

"I don't remember exactly what I said, but he had the patio decorated and he threw it in the pool," she said.

Despite Haack's insistence that she should have seen the warning signs, a representative for Hall told the outlet that "Josh has no clue what Christina is talking about."

The pair got engaged just six months into their relationship in 2021 while in Mexico.
