Florida Home With Ties to ‘Seinfeld’ Star Hits the Market for a Bargain Price—and It’s the Perfect Place To Find ‘Serenity Now’

by Kelsi Karruli

A quaint Florida property with huge Hollywood ties has hit the market in Englewood—just three years after it was sold by the son of an iconic "Seinfeld" star.

The property, which is listed for $449,000, was once home to Donald Martin, son of legendary actor Barney Martin, who famously played the role of Morty Seinfeld in the hit sitcom.

The elder Martin, who died in 2005, was the third actor to play the father of Jerry Seinfeld's titular character and earned a legion of fans in the process.

Morty was depicted as a retiree who had moved to Florida, where he and his wife bounced around from one condo to another.

In reality, the elder Martin had his own close ties to the Sunshine State in the form of his son, who spent years living in the picturesque Englewood abode, which is listed with Elke Von Oerzten of Premier Sotheby’s International Realty’s Venice office.

"Your Florida home with a sitcom legacy! Live where others vacation in a home with Hollywood heritage," the listing notes.

"This charming single-family home in Englewood offers not only sunshine, beaches and space but also a unique story: It was previously owned by Donald Martin, the son of Barney Martin the actor who played Morty Seinfeld, Jerry's father on the legendary sitcom 'Seinfeld.'

"Martin’s portrayal of Jerry’s lovable, opinionated father made him a fan favorite, and his character’s Florida lifestyle in the fictional Del Boca Vista became part of the show’s enduring humor.

"While the sitcom setting lived entirely on screen, this Englewood home offers a lighthearted real-world connection to the Sunshine State backdrop that inspired so many memorable moments."

The three-bedroom, two-bathroom dwelling is the epitome of charm thanks to its palm tree-framed streets.

The open layout shows off the home's high ceilings, tile flooring, and floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace. Large windows frame the lounging space, which is flooded with natural light.

Though modest in size, the kitchen offers ample cabinet and countertop space, making it an ideal spot to prep meals and entertain guests.

The charming bedrooms boast wood flooring and large windows.

The exterior of the home features a sprawling patio area, complete with seating areas for guests to relax. The backyard is fully fenced and filled with lush greenery.

"Beautifully furnished and decorated, this solid-built home with its timeless character is also a great home for an investment and comes with potential rental income," the listing adds.

To guard against Florida's inclement weather, the property has been outfitted with "hurricane-rated windows."

The stunning property is mere minutes away from Florida's beaches, parks, and nature preserves.

"Whether you're looking for a primary residence, vacation retreat or smart investment, this home has everything it takes to become the star of your story," the listing reads.

The listing at “879 E. Second St. offers that classic Old Florida feel that people instantly fall in love with, and the 'Seinfeld' connection just makes it even more special. It’s a home with real character, in a community where the lifestyle is all about sunshine, simplicity and enjoying each day," Von Oertzen says.
