EXCLUSIVE: Fox News Host Steve Doocy Pulls in $1.73 Million for Longtime New Jersey Home—Just $25K Shy of His Asking Price

by Charlie Lankston

Longtime Fox News star Steve Doocy offloaded his beloved New Jersey home for an impressive $1.73 million, Realtor.com® can exclusively reveal—selling the dwelling for just $25,000 under his original asking price, having secured an eager buyer within days of listing the house.

Doocy, 68, originally put the four-bedroom, three-bathroom Wyckoff, NJ, abode on the market for $1.75 million in June, just a few weeks after he tearfully announced that he was stepping down from his full-time role as a host on "Fox & Friends."

The on-air legend, who had appeared as a co-host on the program since its inception in 1998, revealed in early May that he would be ending his decadeslong run as a full-time star, after growing increasingly frustrated with his 3:30 a.m. commute from his Wyckoff abode to the network's Manhattan studio.

Speaking to viewers during the May 1 episode of "Fox & Friends," Doocy—whose son, Peter Doocy, is a Fox News correspondent—insisted that his relocation did not mean he was "retiring," but rather taking on a new part-time position that would see him hosting from farther afield.

“After decades of getting up at 3:30 and driving into NYC in the dark, today is the last day I will host the show … from the couch. I am not retiring, I’m not leaving the show. I’m still a host—but it’s time for a change," he said.

He added that, after years of living in New Jersey with his wife, Kathy, the couple were planning to move to the Sunshine State, where they own a home in Jupiter, which is also home to several members of the Trump family, including Don Jr. and his ex-wife, Vanessa Trump; and Eric and Lara Trump.

Indeed, Doocy noted that his move to Florida would give him plenty of opportunity to cover new topics—particularly because he was going to be located so much closer to President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort.

“I’ll be going from the Carolinas to the Keys. From Middle America to Mar-a-Lago. Call me the coast-to-coast host," he said.

Soon after, Doocy and his spouse opted to part ways with their family home, which they purchased for just $585,000 in 1994—and where they raised all three of their children.

The property was described in its listing as a "classic Sicomac beauty on over an acre," offering four bedrooms and three bathrooms, as well as a stunning backyard with ample space for kids to run around and play.

The kitchen was last renovated in 2010, and the dwelling had undergone some more recent upgrades, including an overhaul of the primary bath in 2021.

Images shared in the listing revealed a glimpse into the Doocy family's life in the property, with two of the bedrooms still decorated as they were when the TV host's daughters, Mary and Sally, were still living there, complete with large initial art over each of their beds.

The primary bathroom featured a number of framed photos of the Doocy children, while other art in the dwelling includes a number of Americana designs, from a portrait of Abraham Lincoln to a painting of the Statue of Liberty.

Inside, the home features a wide-open living room as well as a two-story great room with a fireplace. The "partially finished" basement, it was noted, could well serve as a future entertaining space.

Outside, there is a large deck that overlooks the lush lawn.

"Enjoy all this classic home has to offer with the gleaming hardwood floors and large rooms. ... Don't miss this classic, updated, turn-key home! Come see!" the listing urged.

Clearly, the home's appeal was easy to see for at least one buyer, with Doocy securing an offer just days after the property was listed, although the full sale price has only just been reflected in property records.

And while walking away from the dwelling may have been an emotional experience for the Doocy family, the patriarch has clearly been relishing his new role as an on-the-road reporter for "Fox & Friends," a position that even gave him the chance to return to New Jersey for a recent segment.

Doocy shared a clip of himself visiting a diner in Hackensack, NJ, just a few minutes from his former dwelling, where he discussed the New Jersey Governor's race with a group of patrons.

However, his new job has afforded him the opportunity to travel much further afield to places like Nashville, TN, Savannah, GA, and Des Moines, IA.

He has also taken full advantage of his residency in Florida, interview several high-profile people who also live in the Sunshine State, including Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy and President Donald Trump's daughter-in-law, Lara Trump.

When he announced his departure from his full-time role, Doocy noted that he was hoping to spend more time with his family, admitting that his hosting duties had often forced him to miss out on bonding moments with his kids when they were growing up.

“When my kids were growing up, I never had breakfast with them. I was here. Kathy did everything, but starting tomorrow, I’m going to have breakfast with my grandkids and my children whenever I can," he explained.

Doocy also revealed that AI had informed him that his alarm has gone off before dawn a total of 6,828 times, joking that he's reached his limit as far as early-morning wakeups are concerned.

“That, ladies and gentlemen, is a lot of donuts. It’s a great job ... but the hours suck," he added.

As for his home base in Florida, records indicate that he and his wife own a three-bedroom, 2.5-bathroom Jupiter dwelling that was last sold in 2014 for $1 million—having been on the market for just one month.
