‘No Demo Reno’ Star Jenn Todryk Reveals Real Reason She Quit HGTV Show at the Height of Her Fame
HGTV star Jenn Todryk has opened up about why she made the decision to walk away from her hit series, "No Demo Reno"—admitting that she is grateful to have ended the show on her own terms, rather than end up with the rug pulled out from under her.
Todryk, 37, shot to fame in 2021, when her show debuted on the home renovation network. It featured Todryk as both the star and the executive producer. It became one of HGTV's most popular on-screen hits, drawing massive audiences and earning Todryk a legion of fans.
So when the Texas-based renovations expert announced in 2023 that she was hitting "pause" on the series, it left many stunned. Some even questioned the circumstances that led her to walk away from such a smash hit.
Now, Todryk has shed some light on her decision-making, joking to People magazine that she went through fame "the opposite way," effectively ending her celebrity just as it was reaching its peak.
Looking back on her rise to fame, the on-air personality explained that her ascent to TV stardom began in 2018, when she was scouted by producers who had taken notice of her growing profile as a home influencer.

"It was just a perfect storm of, I was on Instagram at the right moment. It was before anyone even got money doing it. I was a stay-at-home mom. I was doing it for fun, a creative outlet," she told the outlet.
Although Todryk was hopeful about the show's potential success, she confessed that producers were hesitant.
"I remember saying something to someone [at the network] where I was like, 'Well, I have an audience that I'm going to bring to the show.' And they were like, 'Just because you have an audience doesn't mean it's going to work. It hasn't in the past,'" she said.
She also credited much of her success to her followers and influencer background.
"My audience is here. They're awesome," she added. "I was the first one that it stuck for on HGTV. I was the first influencer to cross over and it be successful and make it past one season."
That strong following helped Todryk leverage her deals.
"Sometimes it was hard because they didn't like that I was like 'No, I'm not going to do that' or 'I don't want it done that way.' I wasn't supposed to share anything on my Stories and I was like, 'Hard pass. Then I can't do the show,'" she explained.
The home expert noted that she got used to the show and posting being her "job."
Eventually, Todryk and the producers reached a compromise: "I couldn't share anything that looked like a reveal, which is fine. I totally respect that," she explained, adding that it was a "learning experience."
After Seasons 1 and 2, Todryk pushed to become an executive producer. She eventually became an executive producer in Season 3.

However, after the season ended, she was burned out trying to do everything.
"I was exhausted at the end of the day trying to wear all the hats," she said. She was producing and hosting the series, while also taking care of her three children—Von, Berkley, and Vivienne—whom she shares with her husband, Mike.
"My husband was like, 'Jenn, you can give up some [control] here or there.' And I couldn't do it because I'd been in control of everything that's online from Day 1, because I do it myself," she admitted.
Eventually, she decided to take a break from the series and broke the news to producers.
"We were talking about Season 4 and what the concept was going to be, and we were about to have a big meeting the next day, so I called and I'm like, 'I'm so sorry. I know we've been going back and forth for four months on this concept, but I think I need to pause and I'll let you know when I want to come back or whatnot,'" she explained.
Now, the TV personality is focusing on her social media content creation and her kids' schedules.
"It wasn't like this dramatic thing," she said. "There's no beef, no bad blood. I worked really hard to get into this perfect, well-oiled machine of comfort, and me having so much say in the content and how the show was, and I just felt very in control. And then I left."
