‘RHOC’ Star Meghan King Loses Custody of Her 3 Kids to Ex Jim Edmonds After CPS Investigation—Amid Claims She Gave Son ‘Unprescribed Ritalin’
"The Real Housewives of Orange County" star Meghan King has temporarily lost custody of her three kids with ex-husband Jim Edmonds after she allegedly gave one of her children unprescribed ADHD medication.
The 41-year-old reality star reportedly gave her son Hayes, 7, Ritalin multiple times, although he has not been diagnosed with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), according to Page Six.
An insider told the outlet that Hayes asked a school nurse for the medication, which prompted them to call Child Protective Services (CPS), which then began an investigation.
As a result of that investigation, King has temporarily been stripped of her joint custody rights—which were first agreed to after she and Edmonds split in 2019—with the retired MLB star granted full custody of daughter Aspen, 8, and 7-year-old twins Hart and Hayes.
King has been given supervised visitation rights until a hearing in December, which will determine whether this new arrangement should be made permanent, according to Us Weekly.

The reality star and the retired athlete separated in 2019 after five years of marriage, but their divorce and custody agreement were not finalized until 2021.
One year before their divorce was finalized, Edmonds went public with his now-wife, Kortnie, with whom he tied the knot in 2022.
Tensions between Edmonds and his ex-wife previously came to a boiling point in May, after she allegedly tried to enter his Missouri home without permission, prompting Kortnie to call the police.
In body camera footage from the Frontenac Police Department, King could be heard branding her ex "emotionally abusive."
The police report, obtained by Us Weekly, noted that officers were dispatched to the home after receiving notice that King had been “to the residence several times throughout the day and was currently on scene causing a disturbance.”
King informed officers that she went to the home to drop off clothes for Aspen, adding that she had been in contact with Edmonds and Kortnie earlier in the day.
According to Us Weekly, Kortnie answered the door and informed King that she could leave the clothes, but King demanded to speak with her daughter. Kortnie informed King that Aspen was out with her father.
A source close to King claimed that she refused to leave without speaking to her daughter.
Kortnie then closed the door and went back inside but could hear King yelling out for Aspen.

The police report noted, “Meghan refused to hand Kortnie the dress and ‘pulled away and asked to speak to’ [her daughter]. Kortnie told Meghan that [her daughter] wasn’t home and she was at a baseball game with Jim.”
“As Kortnie walked back towards her office, she heard Meghan inside the home yelling for [her daughter]. Kortnie walked back to the front door and observed Meghan standing inside the house approximately 5 feet from the doorway.”
Kortnie alleged that King “slowly walked back” out of the home “but wedged her foot in the door briefly, so she could not “shut the door completely.”
“After Meghan moved her foot, Kortnie closed the door,” the report added.
No arrests were made at that time. According to the outlet, Kortnie later "called the police department to state she did want to press charges for harassment."
At the time, a representative for Edmonds told People, “As usual, Meghan is telling tales. Her and Jim barely communicate, so if someone is emotionally abusing her it’s not Jim. And she is not getting full custody; Jim is an active and present father to all his children.
"The unfortunate part of all this is that it’s the kids who suffer the most. Jim has always been willing to co-parent in a respectful and productive way, however Meghan has yet to reciprocate. Jim has a long history of consistently making decisions and acting in a way that is best for his kids.”
